The men and women selected were a mix of Heavy Equipment Mechanics, mechanical engineering degree qualified, Mining Company Trained, Industrial Sand Blasters and Spray Painters, Fabrication Experts.
Candidates were tested on their knowledge of Caterpillar Dealer systems and processes, the use of reusability guides, use of Caterpillar Service Information System, component dis-assembly procedures, their knowledge of contamination control, component re-assembly procedures and testing of cooling components.
The candidates were warmly welcomed into the Australian Company’s component rebuild centres – The company has an excellent training and induction process and procedures in place and quickly the deployed workers found their feet.
Candidates are still employed by the same Australian Company, with the company actively assisting the workers to relocate their families into Australia and sponsor the workers and their familes for Australian Permanent Residency.
